Still not in Glasgow... Yesterday was spent being sick, calling NHS direct & going to docs. Probably just as well we hadn't been able to book tickets due to weather! Plan now is to get a train from Reading at 1111 which will get into Glasgow at 1715. I can't wait! Needs to breathe in Glasgow again. I've put some favourite christmas songs on the puter at the moment and enjoying that lots. Mind you, Slade & Wizard are on my playlist on my phone for listening to on way to work all year round :-) Packing tonight, drop off keys with catsitter tomorrow morning and head for train is plan at moment. Current Music: Merry Christmas Everybody (aka duckies) - Slade |

Quotes of the Day Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed.- Abraham Lincoln If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying? - Shantideva Put more trust in nobility of character than in an oath. - Solon Nobody will ever win the Battle of the Sexes. There's just too much fraternizing with the enemy. - Henry Kissinger |

Quotes of the Day In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different. - Coco Chanel There's only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self. - Aldous Huxley The only things we can keep are the things we freely give to God. What we try to keep for ourselves is just what we are sure to lose.- C.S. Lewis We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered. -Tom Stoppard |

[Cam] OOC: Change in Plans and New Inspiration!
So, I wrote this touching and deep background story for a Daeva, six pages long pre-embrace (single-spaced), and a character sheet. I looked at it for days, and then a close friend looked it over and asked me "ok, but what does he do?" and I couldn't answer. I had no idea. In conversation with that same friend at dinner tonight, I was struck with a lighting bolt of inspiration. delmedigo was my very first Requiem PC, made in 2004. He put himself into Torpor for 5 years to escape his enemies, who never found where his body had been stashed (still owe you for that jimcyl!). Well...it's been about 5 years, and I have both inspiration for awesome roleplay and a bunch of things from the character's story I'd love to play out. There's only one teensy problem... 90% of his PC contacts, allies, and enemies are either dead or retired, and he'd know almost no one if he came back today. As such, I am desperately seeking contacts, allies, friends, lovers, haters, enemies, rivals, etc. His history and timeline are up at delmedigo. He's a "fixer" for the Ordo Dracul - they want a person, place, object? He acquires it. Sleazy businessman type. Inspirations: Mr. Morden from Babylon 5, Count Rugen from Princess Bride, and Noah Bennett from Heroes. If you have any ideas, please shoot me a line? :) Thanks! Current Mood: devious |

companion cube cake Oh so frustrated. I was looking forward to building this Companion Cube cake all week. First, I find out that there's no "black forest" mix for cake. Oh no, it's some crazy DIY effort with fillings and toppings. That's no big deal, until I try to square up the cake. Oh yeah, you guessed it, oozing goodness and lumpy layers. Fine. I can live with a little lump. But, the skewers I put in to minimize the slide (as it turns out, cherries in pie filling act like ball bearings to cake layers) ended up sticking, well, up! As the cake settled lower and lower, the little sticks stood out more and more. Hah! You say, simply cover it with the fondant! Indeed, I thought that would be a stroke of genius worthy of the great cake-MacGuyver, should one exist. However, the additional weight of the marshmallow fondant only made the cake sink even lower. And then there's the covering a square cake in fondant trick. Still haven't mastered that yet. But I like to think it's because the cake itself wasn't square. Every time I frosted the outside, more of the inside came out too. *scream* Wait. Why are the cakes different sizes? Well, that's just the magic of the portal, as far as anyone need know. Anyway, the whole thing ended up a mess. There's chocolate all over the fondant. My pizza roller isn't sharp enough apparently for smooth edges, and... my list goes on. However, all that aside, I think it's definitely a recognizable effort at a companion cube cake. And once again, I learned a helluva lot about what not to do with cakes. Also, I have no January theme. February is the spousal birthday, April is Easter and baby birthday, but what to bake for January and March? If we take a class, that will force me to make their designs, right? |

Helping out a friend in need!
A friend of mine is in fairly dire need, currently experiencing a financial crisis worse by far than any I've been through. Unlike me, however, she has marketable skills, and so... http://www.etsy.com/shop/ejstitchesShe also does custom work, so email her through the site if you want anything in particular! |
